Blog 4 (Whitman- Illegal Immigration)
I think that the issue of the illegal immigrant Meg Whitman hired may be being blown way out of proportion. If she claims that she wasn't aware, she probably wasn't. Although I do not think this situation was morally correct, I think that it is also important to realize that we all make mistakes. However, this may be a problem for some voters because one of Whitman's main goals is to create more jobs, which is kind of ironic when this situation of her hiring an illegal immigrant has surfaced.

I agree that her hiring the housekeeper was an irony.Even though this may have been a mistake, it makes me question if shes slightly breaking some kind of rule during the campaign and comes out with the truth later, are the consequences going to be bigger than a tiny blip in the media.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that this situation was blown way out of proportion, but still it is politics so anything that will benefit Jerry Brown will come out. And the fact of the matter is Meg Whitman was supposed to be holding a stance where she believes in creating more jobs and is hard on illegal immigration. So maybe this situatuon was blown way out of proportion, but it still might shed some light on Meg Whitman showing that she isn't very trustworthy or good on her word.
ReplyDeletei agree too. this is kind of rediculous, that the fact about her maid doesnt in the slightest bit affect the way she would set up to run california.. except however that maybe it shows shes a hyporcit somehow.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that this has been blown out of proprtion, almost everyone buys into illegal immagrants when they go to grociery store. I feel that the way she tried to hide it is the part that makes it a flaw on her part, she could have used it as an example of the problem of illegal immagration.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way of knowing whether or not Whitman was actually aware that she hired an illegal immigrant. Either way, she would probably claim that she wasn't aware in order to save her campaign from a disastrous downfall. This issue nevertheless will still most likely somehow effect the number of votes she receives, since it is one of the main issues she has taken such a strong side on.
